The New York Jets finished up the first half of the season with an embarrassing loss to the Miami Dolphins and a record of 3-5. Gang Green is in last place in the AFC East and are a long shot at best to make the playoffs. Not exactly an ideal position to be in for a team that talks about contending for a championship every year. So where do the New York Jets go from here?
Well Rex Ryan and his Jets can go one of two ways. The team can either come out united and determined to salvage this season, or they can come out flat and resigned to the fact that their playoff chances are all but gone. The Jets can fight and play hard for their coach, or they can mail it in and potentially cost Rex Ryan his job. In essence you are truly going to learn a lot about the New York Jets in the second half of the season.
It is easy to play when you have something like a division title or the playoffs to shoot for. It is much more difficult to hit the field when your back is against the wall and the vultures are circling looking to criticize your every move.
Over the next 8 weeks you will learn a lot about Rex Ryan’s ability to lead and motivate. You will learn a lot about the leadership on the team and the resiliency in the locker room. You will see which players raise their game and which players fold their cards when the playoffs are out of reach. You will learn a lot about the New York Jets character.
